====== Daycare Place: Costs, Contract and FAQ ======

This page explains the most important information about registration, childcare,
costs and requirements in our SpielRaum daycare centres.

  * **Vegetarian organic meals** in all SpielRaum daycare centres
  * **Daycare voucher required**
  * **Additional fee:** 49.50 € per month (with Berlinpass BuT: 40 €, second child 28,50€, third child 17,50€, fourth child free))
  * **Meal fee (State of Berlin):** 23 € (waived with Berlinpass BuT)
  * **Measles vaccination is mandatory**

===== Educational Concept =====

Please note:

  * All **SpielRaum daycares are vegetarian**
  * The food is **organic quality**
  * Our daycares are **inclusive**
  * You can find more information about the concept on each daycare's website (www.spielraumXY.de, e.g. www.spielraumperlentaucher.de)

You are welcome to ask any educational questions (e.g. about daily life or the concept) during your visit at the daycare.

===== Costs and Fees =====

Please note:

  * Our daycare centres charge an **additional fee of 49.50 € per month**
  * In addition, there is a **meal fee of 23 € per month** set by the State of Berlin
  * You do **not need to bring anything**, except diapers

The fees include:

  * Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack
  * Drinks
  * Excursions
  * Hygiene products (e.g. soap, tissues)
  * Laundry (e.g. bedding, bibs)

**Reduced fees with Berlinpass BuT**

  * If your child has a **Berlinpass BuT**:
    * the **23 € meal fee is waived**
    * the additional fee is reduced to **40 € per month** (second child 28,50€, third child 17,50€, fourth child free)

===== Registration for a Daycare Place =====

**How to register your child**

**Option 1: by email**

Please write to:

Please include the following information:

  * which **daycare centre** you prefer
  * **start date** for childcare
  * your child’s **date of birth**

**Option 2: via the website**

You can also fill out the registration form on the website of the chosen daycare centre.

===== What happens after registration? =====

  * If we have a suitable place, we will invite you to a **visit (hospitation)**
  * The visit takes place directly at the daycare centre
  * Please read about the daycare’s concept on the daycare website **in advance**

===== Daycare Voucher =====

To attend a daycare centre, your child needs a **daycare voucher (Kita-Gutschein)**.
You can apply for this voucher at your local youth welfare office (Jugendamt). It is possible to apply online (unfortunately, only available in German): https://service.berlin.de/dienstleistung/324873/.

**Part-time voucher (5–7 hours per day)**

  * available **without proof of need**
  * also valid during parental leave
  * valid **from your child’s 1st birthday**

**Full-time voucher (7–9 hours) or Full-time Plus (9+ hours)**

  * requires **proof of need** (e.g. employment)
  * the daycare centre can **advise you** on this

===== Measles Vaccination (Mandatory) =====

Please note:

  * Your child must have a **measles vaccination**
  * This vaccination is **required by law**
  * Without measles vaccination, attendance at daycare is **not possible**

===== Medical Certificate for Daycare (Kitafähigkeitsbescheinigung) =====


**What is it?**
The "Kitafähigkeitsbescheinigung" is a brief medical certificate from your pediatrician. It confirms that your child is healthy, free of contagious diseases, and fit to attend a daycare center.

**Why do I need it?**
In Berlin, this certificate is a legal requirement. It helps the "Kita" ensure the safety of all children. It also serves as proof that your child has the legally required **measles vaccination**.

**When do I need to submit it?**
The certificate must **not be older than one week** when your child starts at the Kita. Please schedule a brief appointment with your pediatrician just before the settling-in period (Eingewöhnung) begins.

**What does it cost?**
Since it is a formal medical certificate, some doctors may charge a small fee (usually between 5 and 15 Euros). This cost must be covered by the parents.
